What’s new in banking apps in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: September 2026

Over the month, banks and fintech services in the two countries released 33 notable updates. Most of the new features are for business clients and in payments. An analysis based on Fintechstan data.

Every month, banks in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan release dozens of mobile app updates. Most are fixes with no description. We selected only the releases where the bank itself explained what changed: they show where the market is investing right now.

Key takeaways of the month

Business apps are updated more often than retail ones

Nine of the 33 updates are for entrepreneurs and companies. BCC Business shipped four times in the month, ForteBusiness three. Banks are moving into the app what used to require a branch visit or a call to a manager: tender guarantee applications, deposit requests, turnover statements and opening a metal account.

Payments start with what is already at hand

The second-largest topic is payments and transfers, with eight updates. The common thread: remove an extra step. Uzum Bank enabled payments via third-party QR codes without a card. ForteBank moved phone-number transfers to the main transfers screen. Payme now fills in a copied card number automatically. Click added autopay for utility bills.

Super apps grow through non-banking services

Freedom SuperApp added home insurance and a children’s QR. The Bank CenterCredit app gained partner instalment offers on the home screen, an insurance catalogue and home cleaning orders in Almaty and Astana. Uzum Bank shipped two releases in the month just for partner cashback.

The largest players update silently

Kaspi.kz released four versions, Halyk two. The descriptions do not reveal what changed in them; more details below.

Kazakhstan: 21 updates across 11 apps

Bank CenterCredit

  • Retail app: partner instalment plans on the home screen, redesigned “Transfers” and “Support”, an insurance catalogue, home cleaning orders, SWIFT transfer tracking.
  • BCC Business: four releases, adding foreign currency transfer templates, a metal account, tender guarantee applications, deposit requests and a foreign trade section.

ForteBank

  • ForteApp: phone number change in the profile, transfers by phone number from the main transfers screen, sign-up with automatic region detection, new payment categories.
  • ForteBusiness: three releases, adding simplified card issuance, a new card design, turnover statements for card accounts and incoming SWIFT transfers.

Freedom Bank

  • Freedom SuperApp: home insurance up to 12M tenge, add-on cover for car insurance, a QR code for children, account settings on the home screen.
  • Freedom Business: repaying a sole proprietor’s loan from a personal card, deposits for LLPs, plastic card issuance.

Bereke Bank

  • Online credit card closure, ordering a plastic multi-currency card for branch pickup, faster home screen loading.

Home Credit Bank

  • A “Marketplaces” category in expense tracking, electronic queue tickets via QR, favourite cards and repeat transfers from history.

Halyk, Bank RBK, TrustMe

  • Halyk Onlinebank for Business: stronger video identification security, updated “Operations” section.
  • Bank RBK: fixes to transfers by phone number and deposit closure.
  • TrustMe: the app now shows who customer data has been shared with and whether consent can be withdrawn.

Uzbekistan: 12 updates across 8 apps

Uzum

  • Uzum Bank: three releases, adding card-free payments via Uzum to‘lov, UzQR and TezQR codes, up to 10% cashback on tuition paid to partners, and 7% cashback at Korzinka stores.
  • Uzum Nasiya: clearer display of the instalment limit.

Anorbank

  • Two releases: a waiting screen for transfers, a spending chart with custom categories, a choice of auto-debit date, microloan statements in the app.

TBC Bank Uzbekistan

  • Automatic renewal of term deposits, partial withdrawals from top-up deposits without losing interest, hints when paying bills.

Ipak Yuli Bank

  • A new loan application flow and repayment schedule, limits for children’s cards.

Fintech services

  • Click: automatic utility bill payments triggered by a minimum balance.
  • Payme: a copied card number is filled in automatically, and a message can be added to a transfer.
  • Iman: a new home screen, top-ups for existing investment accounts.

Who updated quietly

The two largest banks in Kazakhstan use boilerplate release notes, so they are not included in the lists above. We counted their versions from App Store history.

  • Kaspi.kz: four versions, on 7, 14, 21 and 29 September. A weekly cadence. Each has the same description: “Improved app stability and performance.” In September the version numbering changed: 5.135 was followed by 26.0907, and the number now matches the build date.
  • Halyk: two versions, on 3 and 18 September, both with a short line about performance.

Frequent releases without descriptions usually mean new features are switched on server-side rather than shipped with the app version. Such a bank cannot be read from the app store.

App Store ratings

Ratings barely moved over the month: the largest change was four hundredths. Tables show the last value of the month.

Methodology

  • Source: the Fintechstan Market Radar, which tracks app pages in the App Store and Google Play.
  • Only releases with meaningful descriptions are counted. The same set of changes on iOS and Android is counted once, as are versions with repeated text.
  • Period: 1–30 September 2026. Almost all data comes from iOS, as there are few Google Play entries.
  • Coverage for Uzbekistan is incomplete: releases are visible for four of the 27 banks in the directory. Since October the radar has tracked 26 of 27; as of 11 October, releases are visible for 12 banks.
  • Some releases from the first half of September may not have been counted.
