In the Central Asian fintech market, a product error found during development costs significantly more. For N1 Broker and Bereke Bank, the main task was to integrate a complex investment product into the bank's service. It required more than just a neat interface: a person accustomed to deposits had to trust the product and become an investor without unnecessary steps.

From Market Research to Final Design

The project proceeded in five stages. At each stage, unconfirmed hypotheses were filtered out:

  1. Competitor analysis. Analyzed local and foreign players: which solutions work, and which interface errors hinder clients.
  2. Client interviews. In-depth interviews with future users: how they perceive investments and what they expect from the stock market.
  3. First wave of RITE testing. Built a prototype with a new scenario and tested it on users.
  4. Second wave of RITE testing. Quickly refined the prototype based on first-wave feedback and immediately tested it again.
  5. Handover to development. Finalized the design and handed over the description of solutions, already tested on users, to the developers.

How the Product Was Researched and Tested

Decisions were made not by guesswork, but based on data from three methods:

  • Competitor analysis. Competitors were selected based on public business metrics. We analyzed their scenarios and counted screens and steps to make it easier for the N1 Broker client to understand.
  • In-depth interviews. Found non-obvious barriers: from interface language to the fear of hidden fees. The product's value proposition was built on this.
  • Usability testing. Respondents went through the key product scenarios. The test confirmed that the chosen navigation works.

The main method of the project was RITE (Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation). An identified problem is fixed immediately, without waiting for the end of the research. The team did not accumulate errors for a final report, but corrected the detailed prototype right between sessions and tested the fix on the next respondent.

This way, testing works proactively: the client receives a product already validated by users. Less rework after launch, faster time to market.

What Was Improved

The results span three areas. Each was tested on users.

1. Investment Product in the Banking App

The task was to enable the client to buy the main investment product directly in the familiar banking app, without redirects or extra steps. Over several iterations, a scenario was designed and tested, fixing 14 critical usability issues.

As a result, a client used to saving via deposits clearly understood how to start investing. The design also complies with the banking app's rules.

2. Improving N1 Broker User Scenarios

For experienced investors, scenarios within the N1 Broker app itself were revised. The final prototype fixed 10 serious errors that hindered asset management.

Visual forecasts, tooltips, and clear money movement were particularly refined. Whether the client stays in the app directly depends on this.

Based on respondent feedback, onboarding and app registration were cut in half.

3. Choosing a Name: Tabys or "Investments 3.5% in USD"

The name was chosen in two steps: internal team selection, then testing on respondents. Two approaches worked:

  1. Direct ("Investments 3.5% in USD") speaks of benefits and clear terms.
  2. Figurative (Tabys — "income") evokes emotions, sounds local, and conveys the idea of success and growth.

Respondents more often chose "Investments 3.5% in USD": it makes it clearer what the product is. But Tabys became the name — it fits better into the product line. And "Investments 3.5% in USD" remained as a subtitle.

Invest in Data, Not Hypotheses

N1 Broker and Bereke Bank started development with a product already tested on future clients. The RITE method saved them from spending on things clients don't need: a product with a proven path to purchase went into development.

In addition to the conclusions, the team received all the collected data: it can be further analyzed and used in subsequent research and new products.
