AI in banks: from pilots to control
Kazakhstan. Three quarters of banks already use AI, but according to a National Bank survey only 2% of financial sector organisations have scaled their deployments, and only 27% have been able to measure the return; meanwhile, since 2026 an AI law has been in force with risk classes and a ban on decisions made solely by automated means. Uzbekistan. AI is driven from the top: the strategy to 2030 names scoring and antifraud as priorities, the Central Bank has built its own scoring model and launched its own GPT, and from August 2026 biometric data may not be stored outside the country.

When data cannot leave the country or the bank: open-source models in a data center or private cloud. Switching models preserves data and agent settings: AI Control Gate policies define which data may be sent to external models.

Since 2026, an AI law has been in force: risk classes and a ban on manipulative systems; amendments on personal data prohibit decisions based solely on automated processing. Human-in-the-loop and a decision log are built into the architecture at Discovery, not added after an inspection.
Biometric data cannot be stored outside the country, and the central bank sets the benchmark with its own scoring model. Where the model and data live — a data center, a private cloud or an external model under contract — is decided before the pilot together with the bank’s information security and compliance teams.
AI Control Gate logs the actions of connected AI systems, masks data and applies access rights from the bank’s systems. Regulatory changes are tracked by the Regulatory map: an AI scout collects regulator publications, and experts verify their applicability.
